Replying to a call out
Replying to a call out

When a call is sent out using the Volunteer Rescue website, those called will immediately receive an e-mail and a text message. If no response is received to one of these within 5 minutes, a phone call will be sent to the phone number(s) you have provided. You need only reply once, either by text, e-mail, or phone.
Replying by e-mail
Click the link in the e-mail. Enter your username and password (or passcode if you have set that up). Click reply. Indicate your response, and add any comments you wish.
Replying by text
Respond as shown in the following examples (without the quotes):
- "Y 10" - yes and will be there in ten minutes
- "Y 30 need to go home for gear" - yes will be there in thirty minutes as I "need to go home for gear"
- "N" - No
- "N still at work" - No as I am "still at work"
- “N but available 3 hours from now”
- "L 60 heading back to town" – available as a last resort as I am "heading back to town" and am still sixty minutes away.
Note that Y, N, or L is necessary (does not have to be uppercase). If you reply y, it is useful for search planning to have an idea of how long it will take you to get on site, so if possible include a time as in the first example above.
Replying by phone
Simply respond as requested in the phone call: press 1 if you can respond immediately, 2 if you can respond but only as a last resort, 3 if you cannot respond, and 5 if you need the message replayed.
Note: if you have not provided a cell phone number you will receive a phone call to your land line immediately when the call is started. If you have not provided cell service provider, you will not receive a text message.
Note 2: After you reply by e-mail, text, or on the phone, it is not necessary or desirable for you to call the person initiating the call. He or she will see your response on the callout system.
